Streak Day 1
So today is day 1 of my new streak. Hooray! I actually went for a run!
The weather was nice today for Florida and compared to what it has been. When Doug and I went out at around 8 this morning it was overcast and just slightly drizzly. But, most importantly, it was not deathly hot. I miss running out in the cold. When I was in school in upstate New York (I went to Cornell–that’s nowhere near the city), the weather was never too cold to run and it usually was nowhere near too hot to run. Too rainy or snowy, sure, but never too hot.
Anywho, we did two laps around our neighborhood, which comes out to be about 5k (sometimes we have to run a little more to get there). This was perfect for me, because I was trying to earn the last of my Wonder Woman virtual race medals today.
I’d previously earned both Strength and Love, but today I earned Grace. Now if only the medal actually gave me grace. Then I might not trip over my feet (and everything else) quite so much.
Overall, the run was good. Mentally I didn’t have too much difficulty finishing the distance. That’s something I’ve generally struggled with when I’m not doing an actual in-person race. I came out of it a little winded, but my times weren’t horrible (not particularly great either, but hey, you gotta start somewhere).
We were going to try to run again today, but given that it’s been raining significantly harder than this morning and I’ve cracked open a beer, I don’t really think that’s going to happen.
Happy running!
